ANZ is 176 years old and traces its origins to the Bank of Australasia, which opened its first office in Sydney in 1835. The bank established a Melbourne office in 1838, where ANZ's world headquarters are still currently located. Now with a presence in 32 markets globally, we service more than 8 million customers.

ANZ is committed to building lasting partnerships with our customers, shareholders and communities across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific, Europe, UAE, USA and Asia including our Operations hubs in Bangalore, India, Manila, Philippines and Chengdu, China.

We aim to become a super regional bank. This involves growing our presence in the Asia Pacific region and source 25-30% of earnings from our Asia Pacific Europe and America Division by 2017, while also being very focused on growth in our core domestic businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2010, ANZ was assessed as the world's most sustainable bank by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the fourth consecutive year. ANZ’s global headquarters, ANZ Centre, was recognised as a 'world leader' in environmentally sustainable design by the Green Building Council of Australia.
