AUSTRALIA INDIA NATIONAL ADDRESS — SEPTEMBER 11 2009

The Canberra Chapter of Australia India Business Council (AIBC), held  its annual address on climate change with the theme “Economic Opportunities and Risks in a Low Carbon Global Economy" on September 11 2009 at the National Convention Centre, Canberra. The address was part of the 2009 Switch to Green Conference and Expo, which  was  hosted by the ACT Government.  Switch to Green promote d  issues, products and services that can help develop Canberra into a Carbon Neutral Capital.

Keynote speakers on the panel of experts who addressed  the lunch , included:

  • Mr Robert Hill, a former Defence Minister and Ambassador to the UN. Mr Hill updated lunch participants on the role of the Australian Carbon Trust, which he chairs.
  • Mr Paul Gilding, the former CEO of Green Peace addressed the challenges facing both Australia and India in tackling climate change, both on an international level and on the home front.
  • Mr Raghuraman Kalyanaraman (Raghu), the Head of Green IT in Wipro, who share d   his global insights on the implementation of green IT initiatives.
  • Mrs Molly Harris Olsen, Director Eco Futures spoke on the importance of identifying risks now  rather than later.

The event was well attended by  over 140 from the  Canberra business fraternity and the Diplomatic circle.

Mr Deepak-Raj Gupta gave the welcome speech and Mr Warwick Ryan gave vote of thanks to all the participants and the sponsors.

 The City of Ballarat was the gold sponsor for the event.
